I have an Europa.  I first built it as a Monowheel, but found I was not good enough a flyer (lander) so took it home last winter and put a tricyle gear under it. I now have "FUN" landing it.  I am hangered at PAE  (bld. 44-5) and fly when ever the weather is good. Using the kids inheritence!!!

Flying a Stemme S10VT motorglider; just saw your EFIS unit at the booth of Buescher Flugversand at the AERO 2005 Tradeshow in Friedrichshafen, Germany. Looked great to me, but wondering what I would have to "go through" to get this unit retrofited ?!

Hi Roger,

I'm not familiar with the specifics of your motorglider, but I can say that we designed the EFIS-D10A to be as easy to retrofit as possible. It fits into a standard 3 1/4" hole and, at its simplest, requires power and ground, pitot and static. There is much more that you can do with it, but that's the minimum to get it working.

For more information, see our installation guide:
http://dynonavionics.com/downloads/EFIS-D10A%20Installation%20Guide.pdf

I'm also not sure what the requirements for a unit like this are in Germany. In the USA, the FAA only allows these units in homebuilt aircraft because they are not certified. You would want to check with your local regulatory agency before installing one of these.

I am flying an Earthstar Odyssey built from a kit and powered by a Rotax 912s.  I really like my D-10 which is now being upgraded to D-10A and find the airspeed matches my steamguage almost exactly and the altimeter is always within 10' when setting current baro at airports.  That is much better than my backup Taskem which is always 50' to 100' low until the oven gets the unit stabilized.  My wife and I flew from Slidell, La to Sun-N-Fun and back right after I flew off my 40 and we really enjoyed the trip. I am flying a CTSW Ultralight airplane with the D10A as primary flight instrument. I am quite happy with it. Due to legal requirements it is however backed by standard instruments for speed and altitude.

I have the EFIS D10A & EMS D10 installed in my Long EZ, which I completed in 1983.  I replaced the VSI and 3-in-1 engine instrumentation to make room for the Dynons.  The plane has over 1500 trouble-free hours.

I built and fly a SeaRey, an experimental two-place, high-wing, pusher, taildragger amphibian.  Added a Dynon D-10A about six months ago and like it very much (except that the VSI, which is essential equipment in a seaplane, is small and hard to read.

I fly an RV-4, 150 h.p. on Costco regular gas.
I'm seriously considering upgrading from my D-10 with remote compass and AOA to the D-10A.
Does anyone have any thoughts on the advisability of the conversion?
Thanks,

I am just starting the test flights on my glastar equipped with Dynon EMS & EFIS.  They have
not been hooked up to a laptop and properly set up.  I need to decide on what laptop to buy .  The D10 does not indicate proper Amps with both my electrical systems running.

The only thing a laptop is used for is software updates and checklist loading. You don't really need a laptop to set most things up.

What is your D10 indicating? There are three ways to install an ammeter in a plane, so maybe it's just installed differently than you are used to?

Hmmm....

I'm seeing ALOT (over a dozen) of people with tandem aircraft here (EZs, RV-8, Harman Rockets, Cub clones, etc.).

How about a "repeater screen" that surface mounts for the rear seats?

Have just fitted a D-100 and D120 to my Subaru poweres GP-4.
Could do with;
1. An additional input for a 3rd capacitance fuel gauge.
2. Another Amp input. ( I have duel electrics & at present switch betwwn the two)
2. An additional temp. input for Reduction Gear oil temp.( again am switching  between engine oil & gearbox.

Lancair 320, in the paint shop now after a complete refurbishment / panel upgrade.

If I get confident in my D180, eventually I'll replace the steam gages I moved to the right side with a D100 (or whatever is appropriate that year) and swap the vacuum pump for another alternator.

How do I put a picture in here?

You need to load the picture on an internet hosting site (there are several that allow free accounts), and determine what the full url is to that picture (e.g. "http://www.mysite.com/images/myimage.jpg")

Then when posting here, select "insert image" (the third icon from top left, two over from the little picture of the globe or URL icon).  It should look something like this (spaces added so that it shows - delete  the spaces:

[ img = "http://www.mysite.com/images/myimage.jpg" ] [ / img ]

Geez. I wish I had a D1700. Little big for my panel but I'd make it work. Wink

The cat is out of the bag.  Put a 17" LCD monitor in the back seat with an HDMI Connection to an iPhone, running FLTPlan GO. Great for GIB and watching movies!  Part of this story is an exaggeration.

Hmmm....

I'm seeing ALOT (over a dozen) of people with tandem aircraft here (EZs, RV-8, Harman Rockets, Cub clones, etc.).

How about a "repeater screen" that surface mounts for the rear seats?

PilotKris

The Long-Ez and Vari-Ez are not normally fully flyable from the rear seat (no pedals and cannot operate the nosewheel retraction) so probably no point in putting instruments there.

A ballistic parachute on the other hand... Wink

My plane has an AP with the fuse behind the panel. I do have some CBs for things I want to see if they go offline (e.g. flaps).
