AF-5000/4000/3000 SERIES SOFTWARE UPDATES

Updates may require one or more different files to be downloaded and loaded onto your display. You may need to load items such as software updates, aviation / obstacle / base map / terrain databases, settings and configuration files. These files will need to reside on an intermediate device such as a USB drive or SD Card depending on your hardware.

Here are our recommendations on getting through the process correctly.

New USB Memory Stick Setup

NOTE: AF-5000 Series displays can only use ONE USB memory stick labeled AFS_DATA per EFIS at a time.

When you acquire a new USB memory stick for use with your AF-5000 Series EFIS please follow these instructions to ensure you drive is ready for use. You will need a suitable USB memory stick for each AF-5000 display in the aircraft. We recommend a 16 GB or 32 GB, USB 3.0 device. Larger then 32 GB are not recommended.

We recommend Transcend JetFlash 710 drives. Like the TS16GJF710S. USB drives are available from our webstore or by calling 503-263-0037 x 2.

Using Windows

To prepare your new stick open My Computer, This PC or press Win+E to open the File Explorer

Right Click on the removable disk, and select Format

To prepare your new stick select:

  • File system: FAT or FAT32
  • Allocation unit size: Default allocation size
  • Volume label: AFS_DATA

Then select Start to begin the process

This is warning you that you will be erasing all information from the stick, if you wish to proceed select OK

Once your format has succeeded select OK.

New SD Card Setup

When you acquire a new SD card for use with map data or software please follow these instructions to ensure you card is ready for use.

The AF-3000 Non-S must be a 128 MB to 2 GB SD Card. These can be a bit harder to find but are available from our webstore or by calling 503-263-0037 x 2.

The AF-3/4000s can use cards 32 GB or smaller. We recommend the SanDisk 8 GB SDSDUN-008G-G46 or 16 GB SDSDUN-016G-G46 from a reputable vendor.

Before proceeding be sure that you have unlocked your SD card by sliding the locking tab up towards the pins. Locked cards may cause problems with EFIS operations.
