How to Clean, and Disinfect Displays

General Considerations
In general, clean Dynon Avionics displays with a clean, lint-free cloth, such as a microfiber towel. Do not use abrasive materials, especially on the viewable areas of the screen.

Dynon displays are not water-resistant and are not fully sealed against moisture ingress. Therefore, for all of the cleaning recommendations below, never spray or excessively wet displays, especially around buttons, knobs, and other seams that might allow water entry. Water damage to Dynon displays is not covered under warranty.

Cleaning and Sanitizing the Viewable Display Area
The viewable area of Dynon displays contains various anti-glare and/or anti-reflective treatments that will be harmed by general-purpose cleaning agents. Do NOT use cleaners that contain ammonia, bleach, or other general-purpose cleaning agents. These cleaners will damage the protective screen coatings.

To clean the viewable area of Dynon displays, commercially-available wipes that are designed for use on computer screens are suitable and effective. Note that these wipes may not be appropriate for sanitizing/disinfecting. Refer to manufacturer guidelines for their use.

To sanitize/disinfect the viewing area of Dynon displays, use only a 70% or greater isopropyl alcohol solution with a clean, lint-free cloth. The screen must remain wet for at least 30 seconds to effectively sanitize the surface.

Cleaning and Sanitizing Buttons, Bezels, Knobs, and Module
To clean soiled surfaces other than the viewable display, including buttons, bezels, and knobs, and other modules, use a slightly damp cloth moistened with water or a mild soap/water solution. Remove soap residue with a fresh water-damped cloth. Do NOT use cleaners that contain ammonia, bleach, or other general-purpose cleaning agents. These cleaners may damage the surface finish of your products.

To sanitize/disinfect buttons, bezels, and knobs, use a 70% or greater isopropyl alcohol solution with a clean, lint-free cloth. Surfaces must remain wet for at least 30 seconds to effectively sanitize the surface.

COVID-19 Update From Dynon

Like many companies, Dynon and Advanced Flight Systems have been impacted by the recent COVID-19 outbreak. We’d like to take this opportunity to tell you how we are responding to it.

First, the health and safety of our employees are paramount. Dynon is located in the Pacific Northwest, where local public health officials were early to implement policies to help mitigate the impact. Starting last week - in accordance with official guidance - we’ve been acting to social distance ourselves from one another to minimize the transmission of the coronavirus.

Although we are a US manufacturing company, more than half of Dynon's employees are in professional roles that can work remotely. To that end, we are implementing work-from-home policies for most engineering, sales, marketing, and support staff. As we complete this transition, our sales, support , and repair response times may be a little longer than usual for a short time.

With our offices less occupied, we are also acting to further protect our colleagues who are working on-site. Our manufacturing areas are already grouped into separate, nimble “mini-factories”, which normally lets us quickly reconfigure workflow and physical layouts as business needs change. In this situation, it also allows us to quickly adjust our floor plan to physically spread out those factories, letting our colleagues that work in these areas to keep an adequate distance from each other. In addition to these changes, we are following rigorous sanitizing procedures for people and work surfaces.

Given these adjustments, we are currently unable to accept customers at our physical showroom locations in the Seattle and Portland areas. However, our sales and support staff remain available to answer your calls, emails , and take your orders. Our web store remains available as well.

With all of that said, Dynon and Advanced remain open for business. As a manufacturer that sources products from around the world, we are currently experiencing delays in our supply chain. As a result, some products may have longer than usual lead times. However, we are currently able to ship most products. Please contact our sales team for questions about lead times.

And remember, whether you’re at 4,000’ AGL or building in your hangar, aviation offers great social distancing activities! Keep flying! And building! And when you get to your panel, we hope you’ll consider us.
