Additional Information
This tray is considered “universal” because it is as small as it can possibly be while still providing room for the modules and network hub. Therefore, it is expected to fit as many aircraft models. To be certain that this will fit in your airplane, consider the volume dimensions shown in the figures below. The 12 inch depth takes into consideration the connectors and the desired minimum bend radius of the wiring harnesses that project out the forward sides of the modules.
The Universal Module Mounting Tray Kit for SV-HDX1100 is intended to work in concert with the ADAHRS to ADAHRS/ARINC Module Stacking Kit in combination with the EMS to ADAHRS/ARINC Module Stacking Kit, so the following avionics modules can be mounted upon the tray and each other, providing that the EMS module, if installed, is located on the bottom of the stack as shown:
- 1 each SV-EMS-220 module,
- 1 each SV-EMS-200, SV-EMS-200, or SV-ARINC-429
- 1 each SV-EMS-200, SV-EMS-200, or SV-ARINC-429
ADAHRS Mounting Notes
Although the Universal Module Mounting Tray for SV-HDX1100 can accommodate SkyView ADAHRS modules, many installers will mount ADAHRS modules elsewhere in the aircraft due to the following:
- Installing an ADAHRS module using the Universal Module Mounting Tray will require installing an SV-MAG-236 Remote Magnetometer elsewhere in the aircraft because there will be too much electromagnetic interference in the area for adequate magnetic heading sensing performance.
- An ADAHRS module must be mounted within one degree of parallel to all three aircraft axes. This may not be possible in aircraft where the panel has tilt relative to the pitch axis of the aircraft.
- Some homebuilt aircraft instrument panels are subject to significant vibration because they are close to the engine. Vibration can adversely impact an ADAHRS module’s performance.
